Judi Dench reveals she accidentally flashed Chris Logan on facetime
Dame Judi Dench accidentally flashed actors Ben Whishaw and Chris Logan on FaceTime while in the bath recently after believing she was on a voice call to them.
Recalling the awkward encounter on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Wednesday, the actress said her daughter Finty Williams asked her to send Chris a Happy Birthday message, so settled down in the bath to do so.
Much to her dismay, Judi soon discovered she had accidentally video called Chris and Ben instead while they were out on a stroll.
Sharing the story, the 88-year-old began by telling Zoe that she can’t see “at all” due to her age-related macular degeneration, and therefore gets confused with the buttons on her phone.
Judi went on to say: “I ran my bath and I got into my bath and thought I must send Chris Logan a Happy Birthday.

“I picked up my phone and I said, ‘Chris, Happy… and I just saw these two people turn and go [Gasp].
“Well, I was FaceTiming to them. I don’t know about FaceTime, poor Chris… Happy Birthday.”
Laughing, Zoe replied: “What a birthday message! You can’t top that can you,” and went on to call her “naughty”.
Dame Judi was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) back in 2012.
According to the National Eye Institute, it “happens when ageing causes damage to the macula – the part of the eye that controls sharp, straight-ahead vision”.

Back in July, she revealed she can no longer see on a film set or read a script and therefore had to memorise the words.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she said: “You just deal with it.
“It’s difficult if I have any length of a part. I haven’t yet found a way. Because I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory.”
The actress also addressed her ongoing eye issue during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
Judi told the host she needed to “find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page”.
As well as the eye issue affecting her career, she announced in 2019 that she could no longer drive.
“It was absolutely appalling,” she told Radio Times magazine. “But I just know I’ll kill somebody if I get behind the wheel of a car now.”
The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show airs daily on BBC Radio 2 from 6.30am.
