Strictly: Zara McDermott takes part in dance-off
James Jordan has made the claim that there’s “only one way” that Zara McDermott can save herself from elimination on Strictly Come Dancing.
Talking on his Strictly: The Truth video series for Hello! magazine, he insisted that the former Love Islander only stands a chance of getting through another gruelling week in the competition if she opts for an “easier” dance, like the Tango.
“She’s had a lot of the easier dances: Paso, Tango… if she can do the Tango, possibly she can get away with it,” he mused.
“That’s the only dance that she might be able to save herself with – anything else I think she’s gonna be in the bottom two.”
James has famously appeared on Strictly himself in the past, including one memorable series with Denise Van Outen in 2012 which took the pair to the final – so he’s considered qualified to comment on current contestants’ chances.

He dismissed last weekend’s routine as “terrible” and “really clunky”, adding that she and Graziano di Prima missed an opportunity to shine by doing a poor star lift.
Voicing that he thought the dance – which landed the pair in the bottom two – “didn’t really work”, he added: “I’m surprised she was saved.”
Despite his harsh words, he’s still hoping she can improve, explaining: “I don’t think she was given the best opportunity.
“I hope she can come back next week and do a dance to prove that she still deserves to be in the competition.”

This isn’t the first time James has been critical of Zara’s performances, claiming that she isn’t a “natural” on the dancefloor.
However, he also spoke harshly about a performance between Coronation Street fave Ellie Leach and her pro partner Vito Coppola the week before last, whereas he now believes the pair could win the entire competition.
He’d urged Vito to “back off” and stop “overpowering” her during their Samba in time to Barry Manilow’s classic ‘Copacabana’, claiming that he was outshining her.
Although Ellie did dabble in tap, ballet and modern street dance when she was much younger, she has zero ballroom experience – and James suggested that the 22-year-old had ended up getting “dragged around” by her partner as a result.
However, he is now confident that the pair have improved sufficiently in their partnership to be in with a chance of snaring the Glitterball trophy.
“No question – no-one even scratched the surface in comparison to Ellie and Vito,” he declared in his video round-up.
The star added: “They’re my winners at the moment!”
