Dame Joan Collins said she forgot to curtsy to Princess Kate in front of Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.
The Dynasty star, who was made a Dame in 2015, recalled taking part in the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Hollywood icon, 90, was joined by her husband Percy Gibson, 58, in a cream vintage jaguar as the celebrations for her majesty’s 70 years on the throne drew to a close.
The actress led the procession in a motorcade down The Mall during the celebration and was joined in the procession by fashion model Twiggy and Bake Off judge Prue Leith for the “Dames in their Jags” section of the pageant.
In an extract from her book, Behind The Shoulder Pads, obtained by HELLO! magazine, Joan detailed the royal encounter.

“‘Hello, Joan,’ she said sweetly, holding out her hand.
“‘Hello, ma’am,’ I gulped, forgetting to curtsy.
“‘This is Charlotte, and this is Louis,’ she said, and both little people held out their tiny hands politely for a handshake.”

Men are encouraged to greet royals with a neck bow while women can curtsy but a simple handshake in the usual way is also an acceptable greeting.
