Amanda Holden climbs to the top of Blackpool Tower
Today, Amanda Holden became the first person ever to have climbed 518 feet to the top of Blackpool Tower in a record-breaking attempt to raise funds for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
The 52-year-old donned very different clothes than the glamorous dresses she normally slips on to present her Heart FM breakfast show: a hard hat, harness, trainers, tracksuit bottoms and a bright red sweatshirt emblazoned with the name of her radio station.
It took her just under 58 minutes to reach the summit and triumphantly touch the flagpole, as she courageously posed for photos with both arms outstretched to mark her achievement.
The elated star boasted on Heart FM: “Wing commander Adam Collins from the Red Arrows is the only person to have got as far as me, and now I’ve gone higher than him, so I’ve officially gone higher than anyone’s ever been!
“Honestly, I was absolutely terrified – my knees and legs went to jelly,” she shuddered, admitting she’d had to “learn to trust the equipment” which was keeping her safe.

“I’ve never fainted in my life and when I got to the top, I suddenly thought, ‘I’m going to here!'” The Sex: A Bonkers History star exclaimed.
She told co-star Jamie Theakston that she’d been egged on to climb higher than she might originally have planned to, after being told that she would have “gone higher than anyone”.
The project by Make Some Noise will divide funds raised among multiple small charities dealing with mental health, domestic abuse, homelessness and poverty, among other topics.
Amanda appealed for donations, telling fans: “It’s honestly the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done in my life, and I’ve done it for all those small charities.
