Bruce Willis\u2019 daughter Tallulah Willis has shared why the family of the Hollywood star is so open about his struggle with dementia.<\/p>\n
Actress Tallulah, 29, appeared on Wednesday\u2019s edition of The Drew Barrymore Show to share an update on the star after his diagnosis of aphasia progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD) earlier this year.<\/p>\n
FTD causes problems with language comprehension and behaviour, and has meant Bruce, 68, has had to retire from acting.<\/p>\n
Tallulah described it as an \u201caggressive cognitive disease – form of dementia – that is very rare.\u201d<\/p>\n
When host Drew Barrymore asked the daughter of Bruce and Demi Moore why the family has been so open during this difficult period, she said it was \u201ctwofold\u201d.<\/p>\n
Read more: Bruce Willis\u2019 wife \u2018freaked out\u2019 when she looked up his dementia symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cOn one hand, it’s who we are as a family, but also, it’s really important for us to spread awareness about FTD,\u201d Tallulah explained.<\/p>\n The family, including Tallulah\u2019s sister Rumer Willis, frequently posts updates on the actor\u2019s health on their various Instagram pages.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd individually, to help other people, to turn it around to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n \u201cAnd part of what\u2019s been a really beautiful way for me to heal through this is becoming like an archeologist to my dad’s stuff – his world – to his little trinkets and doo-dads.\u201d<\/p>\n Tallulah also revealed she\u2019s been spending time with Bruce by listening to music together.<\/p>\n She described his current condition as \u201cstill the same\u201d and said they have a \u201cspecial\u201d relationship with each other.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is the same… Which I think, in this regard, I’ve learned is the best thing that you can ask for,\u201d Tallulah said.<\/p>\n
