The Wanted have returned after a seven-year hiatus, promising new music and a performance at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20, amid Tom Parker’s brain tumour battle.

Their performance is for band member Tom’s charity concert ‘Inside my Head’, of which all proceeds made will be split equally between Stand Up to Cancer and The National Brain Appeal.

A video posted on the band’s official Twitter page Wednesday, confirmed the news.

“Here we go!!” the band captioned. “We are MEGA excited to announce that we are BACK and will be releasing our Greatest Hits Album on November 12th!!

”We’ll also be preforming LIVE at the @RoyalAlbertHall as part of @TomParker’s ‘Inside My Head’ concert,” they continued.

“It’s been far too long…Let’s do this!”

Tom, who is bravely battling a brain tumour, was the first member featured in the Twitter video, as he sat by himself in what appeared to be a hospital waiting room.

Moments later he is joined by the rest of the original band members; Max George, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran and Nathan Sykes, sitting through each of them commenting on how ‘tough’ they’d had it suffering minor injuries in knowing humour.

Being able to joke around his serious situation shows the bravery and good-sported nature of the 33-year-old and perhaps has provided him some relief in the trying times. Turning his plight into positivity, Tom contacted his band members after proposing a concert in aid of cancer research.

“It feels amazing it is quite nice to be able to do something that is not related to treatment,” the singer said speaking to The Sun. “It is like nothing has ever changed.”

Shortly after the announcement, Tom posted a new official photo with the boys on his Instagram page, captioning, “the reaction has been so lovely. Thank you x”

The Wanted had originally planned to get back together in 2020 for their 10th anniversary, but suffered setbacks with the pandemic and Tom’s diagnosis last year.

Positively, Tom has since been “responding well” to treatment and has been working with Channel 4 on a documentary.

Between 2010-2013, The Wanted achieved incredible success with three successful studio albums and numerous hit singles over the course of their first run.

Giving it another go, the band plan to release their Greatest Hits album with a new single which also dropped on Wednesday – just in time for fans to get excited before their performance in a couple of weeks.

"So blessed to be on this journey again with the @thewantedmusic. Who’s with us?”, band member Siva captioned on his Instagram page Wednesday.

“Here’s to creating more amazing memories,” Max commented on his page. “This is all for you lot.”
