'The Matrix 4' Reportedly Faked a Party Scene to Avoid Covid-19 Rules and Threw an *Actual* Party

In a move that puts even the Kardashians to shame, The Matrix 4 cast and crew reportedly *checks notes* staged an entire party scene for their film in order to avoid Covid-19 restrictions and hold an actual wrap party.

I’ll give you a moment to shout “WHY, KEANU, WHY?!” at your phone and/or computer.

According to German newspaper Bild via Page Six, there were nearly 200 people at the wrap party at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam, which featured a “packed dance floor,” as well as tattoo stations, several bar and food stations, pyrotechnics, and a dance performance. Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend Alexandra Grant were at the event, as were Matrix creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski.

A guest told Bild that rapid Covid-19 testing was given ahead of the party and that “everyone had to come with a mask, but many didn’t wear them later.” Meanwhile, Studio Babelsberg spokeswoman Bianca Makarewicz told the outlet that, “According to the production, it was the last day of shooting. It was a celebration scene … Hygiene requirements were adhered to. The production deliberately put this shoot with many people involved at the end of the shoot.” However, guests said that there was no actual filming during the party—hence reports that it was staged.

A spokesman for the city of Potsdam said the party wasn’t registered (which is required), and their health department is examining photos from the event.
