Phillip Schofield revealed this morning that he got an “extra 20 years” with his dad after administering life-saving CPR to him.

The 59 year old TV presenter was discussing the incident involving Christian Erikson who collapsed on the football pitch during the first half of the group stage match between Denmark and Finland in the Euros.

The footballer suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch and it was CPR that saved his life.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke to medical professional Dr Ellie about the procedure on This Morning, to help show viewers the correct way to administer CPR.

Dr Ellie demonstrated the right way using a model torso on the floor of the This Morning studio.

Phillip used his own personal experience with his dad as an example to stress the importance of learning how to perform CPR.

He said: “I brought my dad back doing that and we got 20 extra years with him because of that, so you just never know.”

Phil continued to reveal: “If I hadn’t been in that night, then you know, that would have been it.”

Phillip was only 22 years old when he witnessed his dad Brian having a heart attack.

Luckily Phil had seen CPR on the TV so he jumped into action and performed the medical manoeuvre on his father.

He spoke about the incident on This Morning in 2018.

Phillip said: “I've done it myself, brought my dad back. He had a heart attack and died in front of us on the carpet.”
