Labour peer Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon and Labour candidate for Parliament for east London Jumana Nagarwala are both running in Tower Hamlets. Labour said Zahawi made the allegation about Mr Nagarwala and that a complaint from his party had been passed to West London Anti-Fascist Network, which says it has been working closely with them. Mr Zahawi has been accused by Ukip activists of being part of an organised campaign against the local party. During Mr Zahawis election campaign last year he posted online a number of pictures of anti-Ukip campaigners and comments under his own pictures Image: Reuters, One post said: If a single racist in Tower Hamlets votes UKIP, then the whole of Tower Hamlets will be at risk of becoming this countrys next Auschwitz. When hes put his face next to a poster saying Im a racist then Ill be doing exactly what I do. Ill be going to court to say that youre lying. A spokesperson for Lord Ahmad told the Sunday Mirror: Lord Ahmad was contacted by Labours National Executive Committee to request that it act quickly to ensure the safety of the Labour candidate, Jumana Nagarwala, and would urge anyone who believes my election campaign is in danger, or any other election campaign, to make an immediate complaint. The NEC has responded to Lord Ahmad, who has been in contact with local Labour Party officials and local members, including Nadhim Zahawi, to reassure them that there is no danger. The Labour candidate, Jumana Nagarwala, has been assured that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and that she will be supported by the Labour candidate for Tower Hamlets, Jumana Nagarwala. Lord Ahmad has also been in contact with people he considers to be anti-racist activists to urge them to be vigilant and to report any such behaviour to the local party.
