The ‘Brokeback Mountain’ actor attends the 11th Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles with his big sister after he became trending on social media.
AceShowbiz –Jake Gyllenhaal has stepped out in Los Angeles to support his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, at the 11th Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards. The family outing came after his ex Taylor Swift released her “All Too Well” short film, which went viral.
On Saturday, November 13, the 40-year-old star was at the ceremony to present the sound editing trophy to Mandell Winter and David Esparza for their work on Netflix thriller “The Guilty“. The “Brokeback Mountain” actor also supported his “brilliant” sister Maggie, who was honored with the Breakthrough Director award for her new film “The Lost Daughter“.
Maggie has received rave reviews for her directorial debut which hits limited U.S. theaters on December 17 before it can be streamed on Netflix on December 31. Her husband and co-star Peter Sarsgaard presented her with her plaque.
For the special night, Jake looked dapper as ever in his black suit over a white unbuttoned shirt and dress shoes. In the meantime, Maggie wore a floral patterned black velvet dress that featured a low V-neck.
The Gyllenhaals’ outing came after Taylor dropped a short film for her new 10-minute version of the song “All Too Well”, which has long been speculated to be inspired by her relationship with the “Spider-Man: Far from Home” actor, whom she dated in late 2010. The video, which accumulated over 23 million views on YouTube in less than 48 hours, features Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien as a couple.
As the film went viral, Jake’s name started trending on Twitter. The extended version with new lyrics and the accompanying film have only strengthened theories that connect Jake to the Grammy winner’s hit song. However, she still played coy about who exactly the song is about.
“That’s one of the interesting questions that people ask me all the time about songs, and what I think is important to note is that these songs were mine years ago when they were written. Now they’re ours, now they’re shared,” Taylor told Extra at a premiere of the short film. “I think every person out there might have someone they think of when they hear the song, and that’s what I want.”
Only one day after the release of the film she wrote and directed for her 10-minute version of “All Too Well”, Taylor sang the full song as the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live“. As she played her red guitar, the film was playing behind her on the wall.
