General Hospital star Tyler Christopher has died at the age of 50.
The actor, the ex-husband of Eva Longoria, reportedly passed away from cardiac arrest at his home in San Diego, California, early Tuesday morning.
The news was confirmed by his long-time co-star Maurice Benard, who posted on Instagram: “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.”
“Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him,” the statement continued.
“Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.
“We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father.”

Christopher was best known for his portrayal of Nikolas Cassidine on long-running General Hospital.
He stayed on the show for 20 years, before leaving and joining another soap, Days Of Our Lives, two years later.
Christopher played the role of Stefan DiMera for a year before leaving in 2019 – though won a Daytime Emmy for his performance in the time he was there.
The star was married twice – first to Eva Longoria during the heyday of her Desperate Housewives fame between 2002 and 2004.
He would later tie the knot with Brienne Pedigo, an ESPN reporter, and remained with her until a reported divorce in 2021.
He is survived by two children, Greyson James (born 2009) and Boheme (born 2015), whom he had from his relationship with Pedigo.

The actor struggled with alcohol addiction, and has been arrested more than once for public intoxication. His last arrest was in May 2023 at Hollywood Burbank airport.
In 2019, he was put under the guardianship of his sister Susan Asmo Baker after he fell and hit his head during a bout of withdrawl.
The accident, which occurred in his bathroom, resulted in him cracking his skull and suffering bleeding on the brain.
He would later fight against the guardianship, accusing her of abusing her power to pay off her own bills.
She would defend herself, saying everything was done in support of him and he “would be dead” without her.
The guardianship ended in 2021.
