Celebrity Gogglebox stars watch Sir Elton bow out at Glastonbury
Chris Packham and his stepdaughter Megan McCubbin returned to TV screens in the new series of Celebrity Gogglebox.
While the Springwatch stars have been a hit with fans, Chris, 62, admitted he was worried about giving viewers an insight into his “ruthless” critiques.
Appearing on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Chris said: “Meg’s a great fan of Gogglebox, and I’ve watched it from time to time.
“I was more worried about the fact that they film it in a way where there’s no one in the room there with just some cameras, and I do let rip at things.
“I do say in the comfort of my own home, I’m ruthlessly critical of whatever we’re watching, TV, movies or whatever.”

One show the duo had to watch was Netflix’s Is It Cake? which sees cake artists create uncanny replicas of household objects in a baking contest.
Asked for his verdict on the meme-inspired show, Chris added to Kate: “I admire people who hone their art so I have a sneaking admiration for that. But at the same time, I’m asking why?
“There’s a lot of things that you can master in life, a lot of skills that you might be able to master and that’s a strange one to choose… would I want to invest in that level of skill? Certainly not, no.”
Since Celebrity Gogglebox began last month, some fans have called for a full episode of commentary from Megan and Chris.
A Twitter user wrote: “Chris Packham’s a pure genius. I think that he’s brilliant.”
Ranter commented: “Can we have a whole episode of #CelebrityGogglebox with just Chris and Meghan, please? #gogglebox.”
While Samantha said: “Chris there, saying what we’re all thinking. Protect Chris Packham at all costs. #CelebrityGogglebox #Gogglebox.”
And another added: “I can’t believe it’s taken #CelebrityGogglebox this long to get Chris Packham on it. He’s a revelation.”
Celebrity Gogglebox airs at 9pm on Channel 4.
