Call The Midwifes Helen George announces birth of second child with Jack Ashton

Call The Midwife actress Helen George has announced that she has welcomed her second child with her partner Jack Ashton.

The BBC One star, who recently shared a rare family snap with her adorable four year old daughter Wren, took to Instagram to share a sweet snap with her 37,200 followers of the newborn resting on the chest of her partner Jack.

Helen, 37, who is best known for the role of Trixie Franklin in the BBC drama, appeared to have given birth in St Thomas' Hospital in London as the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben could be seen from the window.

The mum-of-two shared the sweet snap and joked that Jack would 'forevermore' have to share his 'birthday week' with the little one.

She penned: "Happiest of birthdays my love. What a week. And forevermore you will share your birthday week with your second born, sorry I couldn’t cross my legs any longer Xxx."

"So beautiful!! And Happy Birthday Jack!!"

Helen has not revealed whether they have welcomed a son or daughter and are yet to announce the name of their bundle of joy.

Meanwhile Helen and Jack were inundated with well-wishes on their heartwarming news including fellow Call The Midwife stars.

Laura Main, who plays Sister Bernadette, penned: "So beautiful!! And Happy Birthday Jack!!"

Another added: "Oh yay. Congratulations to you all. This is wonderful news. Welcome little one xx"

A third wrote: "Oh my gosh. CONGRATULATIONS!!. Well done. Hope everything went as smooth as possible and you and the little one are doing good."

Helen has played Trixie Franklin in the heartwarming BBC show since its first season in 2012.

Jack also starred in the show as Reverend Tom Hereward. The pair began dating in 2016 after filming in South Africa for that year's Call The Midwife Christmas special. Wren was born shortly after in 2017.

The happy couple announced that they were expecting their second child back in June. Helen posted a gorgeous picture captioned: "Baking number 2. Due in December."

Helen opened up about finding love with James following her divorce from Oliver Boot in 2015.

In an interview with Stella magazine she described it as a "slow process," and explained: "Jack always really makes me laugh. He's so unbelievably kind and down to earth, and he's such a great dad."

In 2015, Helen took part in the thirteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing where she competed with Aljaz Skorjanec. The pair received high praise from the judges, but finished in sixth place.

Call the Midwife is due to be back on our screens this December for its annual Christmas special.
