A Baywatch star who was once considered as one of the most sexiest woman in the world now looks completely different more than three decades after the iconic show aired.
American actress and Playboy model Erika Eleniak, 53, who played Shauni McClain in the hit nineties TV show, cut a very different appearance when she posted a picture of herself on social media.
Sporting wavy long blonde hair that gently swept over her shoulders, Erika also showed off two three-quarter sleeve tattoos – a stark difference to her clean cut image on the lifeguard show.
Erika teamed her causal rock themed look with a black t-shirt that had a huge picture of an eye in the centre.
Back in the day, Erika was famed for showing off her amazing body in the show's trademark red swimsuit. The show aired between 1989 and 1999. Its weekly audience consisted of 1.1 billion people in 148 countries and it was translated into 44 different languages.
Soon after posting the image, which she captioned "self care Sunday", Erika was inundated with comments from fans praising the star on her new look.
One fan said: "Your tats are on point. Very cool."
Another fan said: "Looking beautiful and sexy tattoos."
And a third added: "I'm very impressed that you got some really decent ink going on. That is totally cool."
At the time Erika and Pamela Anderson were vying for the title of sexiest woman in the world as they were both Playboy models who garnered a legion of fans after appearing on the show.
But behind the scenes, Erika has admitted that she was not comfortable being considered as a sex symbol and decided to take her career in a different direction.
In an interview she reportedly once said: "I loved being there, and I loved the role, especially the second season. I got some great storylines. I really got to dig my chops into some good acting roles.
She added: "We did Baywatch to be a serious look at lifeguarding. There were cop shows, doctor shows, lawyer shows and no lifeguard shows. For me, as soon as it became even sexier, when it became syndicated, it was definitely not comfortable. It ended up being a bit of a push and pull between myself and the producer sometimes."
She continued in the same interview: "So when Pamela came on, it was just the perfect fit for Baywatch she was definitely footloose and fancy-free and loved being more of an exhibitionist than I did."
